As part of its education programme, the PinchukArtCentre held Saturday Talk on Saturday, 28 August, 2010, dedicated to the work of art by American artist Matthew Barney. Barney’s work presented in the “Sexuality & Transcendence” exhibition is “Ambergris”, which refers to a solid, waxy substance produced in the digestive system of sperm whales. The work originates from the film “Drawing Restraint 9”, set on a Japanese whaling ship the “Nisshin Maru”, with Matthew Barney and his wife – a world known singer Bjork – staring in it. Eckhard Schneider, the General Director of the PinchukArtCentre and curator of the “Sexuality and Transcendence” show, and Natasha Sheiko of Tsekh gallery joined the discussion.
