The PinchukArtCentre and GOGOLFEST are to hold a joint event “Sexuality and Transcendence. The Third Reality” on Friday, 10 September 2010, at 21:00 at the PinchukArtCentre. This event will encompass reading performances by the young Ukrainian authors – participants of “Litreactor” project – in the space of the art centre.
At the junction point of two projects – “Sexuality and Transcendence” art exhibition and “Litreactor” edifying literature project – emerges a chance for these two unique environments to interact. The first environment is space of the art objects that are created by 19 global artists and interlinked by a shared theme of diametrically opposite points of human mind – sexuality and transcendence, the End and Beginning of Homo Sapiens. The second environment is a collective domain of the young Ukrainian men of the pen, who will be involved in a six-day-long intensive intellectual training course to develop conceptual images for the “Litreactor” project.
Liubko Deresh, writer and curator of the “Litreactor” project: “Alchemy of art comes to life at the point of contact of realities – reality of forms and reality of technologies. The objective of this event is to help these opposites approach each other and make 20 (per number of participants) attempts to conceive the new, Third reality. Each of the participants picks one of the art objects showcased at the PinchukArtCentre and prepares a short text-hieroglyph-performance to be presented next to the chosen work of art. ”
Also, in the conclusive part of the event, there will be a flash mob to read essays of the American artist Jenny Holzer whose installation is placed in the PinchukArtCentre’s staircase. All who wish to join the flash mob are welcome. Good command of English language is a must!
The event is intended to reach several targets. Regarding the exhibition, this would be the final sparkle before its closing date on 19 September. As to the young Ukrainian writers of the “Litreactor” project, the event will be their first real battle test. And as for the viewers, they will be able to observe the flow of educational technologies over to the art space; observe live reflections on art coming from young people – the ones who, in a couple of years from now, will form a new front of the Ukrainian culture.
