Victor Pinchuk was ranked 67 in the annual Power 100 rating of «100 Most Influential Persons in the Contemporary Art World» by British ArtReview magazine.
ArtReview magazine has released their annual Power 100 list of important people in the contemporary art world. Artist listed the first in 2008 rating is Damien Hirst (6th position of the last year’s listing); the famous New York gallery owner Larry Gagosian has occupied the #2 place for the second year in a row.
The next five persons in the List are:
- Kathy Halbreich, the director of MoMA museum (New York);
- Serota, the Head of London Tate Gallery;
- Iwan Wirth, the co-owner of Hauser & Wirth Galleries (London, Zurich).
The founder of PinchukArtCentre Contemporary Art Centre, Victor Pinchuk, appeared in the rating for the first time, taking the 67th position.
Among the participants of the listing are Jeff Koons (11th position) and Takashi Murakami (28), whose works, alongside those of Damian Hirst, were showcased in the PinchukArtCentre within REFLECTION exhibition, taking place on October, 6 — December, 30, 2007. The musician Paul McCartney, whose paintings have been exhibited in the PinchukArtCentre in Kyiv as of June, 17-July 13, 2007, also features in the List of the most important people in the contemporary art world.
Earlier this year, ARTnews magazine has mentioned Victor Pinchuk among Top-10 of the most influential art collectors in the world. The 18th annual rating of 200 biggest art collectors has been issued by ARTnews magazine, basing on the interviews with art dealers, auctioneers and the art collectors themselves, representing 22 countries of the world.
