PinchukArtCentre launches educational program with Kyiv schools in focus

PinchukArtCentre introduces a program focused on Kyiv schools under its educational initiatives. The main idea of the project is an integrated educational work with Kyiv schoolchildren, aged 6 to 16, with art-education concept at its core. On 9 September, pupils of Kyiv lyceum No 143 were the first participants of the program.

The program is developed to introduce schoolchildren to contemporary art as one of the universal languages of humankind; teach history of arts, contemporary tendencies and genres; explore life and work of artists; develop creativeness; analyse philosophic and social concepts employed in the works of art of contemporary artists and etc.

Among other things, the program includes free-of-charge guided tours; screening of the exhibition related video films; meetings with artists and group discussions with the art centre team members.

Setting up the project, the PinchukArtCentre invited to Kyiv Winfried Nußbaummuller, Head of Art Education at the Kunsthaus Bregenz (Austria). He conducted educational seminars with the PinchukArtCentre tour guides, school managers and teachers from 30 Kyiv schools. The seminars explored such topics as:

  • Philosophy and grounds of art education.
  • Art education and schools – learning models.
  • Knowledge through art. Potential of art in teaching process.
  • Creativeness.
  • Potential of Demian Hirst and his Requiem exhibition.
  • PinchukArtCentre, history of arts, “Young British Artists” (YBA).

The education project for Kyiv schools will continue through all future exhibitions at the PinchukArtCentre.
