Art Encounters Festival at PinchukArtCentre

Art Encounters Festival at PinchukArtCentre

Please note: most festival activities will be held in Ukrainian.

We invite you to the Art Encounters Festival at PinchukArtCentre — a day to look, feel, talk, create, and discover your own way of connecting with art and the exhibition.

What might this encounter bring? Perhaps a new perspective on something that once went unnoticed — in everyday things, in other people, or in yourself. Or perhaps simply a moment of calm, curiosity, or joy. You do not need to look for big discoveries. Sometimes, it is enough to stay open to what resonates with you and take away something meaningful.

Choose your own way of experiencing art and leave room for the unexpected.

Participation in the festival is free.

Festival Programme

QUEST

12:00–18:00 | Quest cards available at the reception desk, 2nd floor

Pick up a quest card at the reception desk and explore the festival space. Four stations with creative tasks will guide you through different parts of the programme.

Complete at least three tasks, collect three stamps, and return to the reception desk — a small gift with a personal prediction about joy will be waiting for you.

WORKSHOPS

“What Does Your Joy Look Like?”

12:00–18:00 | 4th floor, Gallery 1

Joy can take many forms: quiet or bright, light or intense, barely noticeable or filling the whole space. What does your joy look like?

During this workshop, we will explore ways to express our own sense of joy through colour, shape, and texture. Through collage, working with different materials, and tactile experiences, we will create our own abstract image of joy.

Throughout the day, artists Tamara Turliun, Daria Molokoiedova, and Oleksandra Luniova will join the workshop facilitation.

“Recipes for Care”

12:00–18:00 | 5th floor, Education Space

Joy often appears through our connections with others — in shared rituals, acts of care, exchanges of attention, and moments of closeness.

During this workshop, we will recall our own “recipes for care” — small personal stories that bring back a sense of warmth. Working with salt dough and spices, we will give these memories a tangible form and explore how scent, taste, and touch can bring us back to stories about people, places, and things that are meaningful to us.

This is a space for a slow creative process, togetherness, and personal stories.

Throughout the day, artists Nina Lahuta, Anastasiia Leliuk, and Lora Litkovska will join the workshop facilitation.

ART ENCOUNTERS

Dialogues Around Artworks

12:00–18:00 | 4th floor, Gallery 2 and Gallery 9

During short conversations about artworks, we will share observations, associations, and personal interpretations. The same artwork can reveal itself in different ways — through each person’s experience, attention, and perspective.

This is an opportunity to enter into a dialogue with art and with others, noticing things that may have previously remained unseen.

The discussions will be moderated by cultural researcher Tetiana Doroshenko and cultural manager and podcast producer Tetiana Tadai.

Sketching in the Exhibition Space

12:00–18:00 | 3rd floor, Gallery 2 and 4th floor, Gallery 3

This is an invitation to slow down, take a closer look at artworks, and try to capture what resonates with you.

You will explore different exercises — from free drawing to experiments with line, shape, memory, and personal sensations. During the process, we will share observations, discuss what draws our attention, and reflect on the thoughts and feelings that emerge through encounters with art.

The sketching sessions will be led by artists Anastasiia Ptashnyk and Olha Chykalo.

Art Bingo: Collect Your Own Joy

12:00–18:00 | 4th floor, area near the elevators

What if you looked at art through your own associations, memories, and feelings?

Create your own collection of artworks using association prompts: find the artwork that reminds you of your favourite song; the one that brings back carefree moments; or the one where you discover a quiet sense of joy.

There are no right answers here. There is only your perspective and your own dialogue with art.

ONE-ON-ONE ENCOUNTERS

Networking Event “Conversations Without Right Answers”

13:00–14:30 | 3rd floor, Gallery 1
Registration required

At the exhibition, you can see a large sphere with the inscription “Can Anything Last Forever?” — a work by Ryan Gander. His open-ended questions invite us to reflect and imagine different possibilities.

During this event, participants will work in pairs and get to know each other through unexpected questions inspired by the artwork. We will share thoughts, associations, and stories — because sometimes a single unexpected question can lead to a meaningful conversation, a new perspective, or an interesting connection.

Workshop “Singing That Brings Us Together”

15:00–16:30 | 3rd floor, Gallery 1
Registration required

What happens when many individual voices become one?

We invite you to sing together — to listen to yourself and others, find a shared rhythm, and experience the joy that emerges through connection. Whether you sing every day or last sang as a child, everyone is welcome. Here, the process matters more than the result — it is about what we create together.

The workshop will be led by performer, singer, facilitator, and psychologist Yevheniia Melkonian.

QUIET PRESENCE

Postcard “When This Moment Becomes a Memory”

12:00–18:00 | 4th floor, Gallery 7

What was this encounter like?

Something that feels like a small detail today may later become a meaningful memory: an image, a phrase, a colour, or a feeling that brings you back to this moment.

Create a postcard for yourself and fill it with something you would like to remember. It can be a thought, an artwork that stayed with you, a few words, a drawing, or simply a sign that feels meaningful right now.

Handpan Performance

14:30–16:00 | 4th floor, Gallery 8 (the space with Julian Charrière’s work “Vertigo”)

Not every encounter needs words. Sometimes it is enough to simply stop and listen.

Join Igor Trush for a handpan performance — immerse yourself in sound, space, and your own sensations.
