Presentation of the Book on Zhanna Kadyrova with the Artist’s Participation
On 11 November, PinchukArtCentre invites you to Sens Bookstore in Lviv for the presentation of the first monograph dedicated to the work of the world-renowned Ukrainian artist Zhanna Kadyrova.
The publication covers more than two decades of the artist’s practice — from early works to projects created after the start of the full-scale invasion. The book brings together critical texts by international authors, personal comments by Zhanna Kadyrova and different perspectives on her work, allowing readers to trace the transformation of the artist’s artistic language and the themes she explores.
The monograph was created through a collaboration between PinchukArtCentre, the German art institution Kunstverein Hannover and the artist herself, and published by Distanz. The book became a continuation of Zhanna Kadyrova’s long-standing collaboration with PinchukArtCentre and an important step in presenting Ukrainian contemporary art to an international audience.
The presentation will include a public discussion dedicated to Zhanna Kadyrova’s creative journey, the transformations of her artistic practice, her experience of working during the full-scale war and the process of creating the monograph.
Participants in the public discussion:
Zhanna Kadyrova — Ukrainian artist, creator of the projects Palianytsia and Security Guarantees.
Björn Geldhof — Artistic Director of PinchukArtCentre, co-editor of the monograph.
Daria Shevtsova — curator and researcher at PinchukArtCentre, author of one of the texts in the publication.
The event will also feature a video address by Christoph Platz-Gallus — Director of the German art institution Kunstverein Hannover, curator and co-editor of Zhanna Kadyrova’s monograph.
Participation is free, with prior registration.
We invite you to join the conversation about contemporary Ukrainian art, its international presence and Zhanna Kadyrova’s artistic practice.
