RIDGINA Gallery
The “Ridzhina” Gallery is one of the first private galleries in Moscow, opened on September 11, 1990. Its founders were the owner of the “European Trade Bank” Mikhail Litvak, Vladimir and Regina Ovcharenko, in whose honor the gallery was named. The gallery immediately declared itself as an active institution focused on non-commercial contemporary art, open to experiments and radical gestures. From 1990 to 1994, the art director/curator/exhibitor of the gallery was the artist Oleg Kulik, who created many high-profile projects. Among them were the installation festival “Animalistic Projects” in 1992 and the exhibition project “Self-Standing Art” for the painting exhibition of Oleg Holosi, where the paintings were installed on movable structures controlled by teenage boys, thus turning an ordinary painting project into a large-scale installation-performance.
In 1995, the gallery was closed and resumed activities in 1999. Since 2000, Sergey Bratkov has been working with “Ridzhina” on a permanent basis. In April 2010, a branch of the gallery was opened in London, UK — “Regina London”, which existed until 2013. In May 2013, Vladimir Ovcharenko created the contemporary art auction and art space VLADEY.Title: RIDZHINA Gallery
