The PinchukArtCentre Research Platform launches a series of online lectures on anatomy in art
The PinchukArtCentre Research Platform launches a new cycle of online lectures “Academy at Seven”, dedicated to the anatomy of art. The lectures will explore how throughout art history attitudes towards the human body, its parts and organs have changed, what ethical and aesthetic principles exist in their representation, as well as what prohibitions are present in the depiction of certain images.
The course will consist of 7 videos and will begin with a general lecture about the body. In addition, in the context of art, the heart, brain, female breasts, penis, vagina, and buttocks will be examined. Lectures will be published every two weeks on Tuesdays on the PinchukArtCentre social media pages — Facebook and YouTube.
The lecturers will be researchers Ksenia Malykh, Kateryna Yakovlenko, Halyna Hleba, and guest curator of the PinchukArtCentre Research Platform Kostiantyn Doroshenko. Due to explicit illustrations in the artworks shown, the videos are not recommended for viewers under 18 years old.
The Research Platform was founded by PinchukArtCentre in 2016. It is an open platform for intellectual inquiry, research, and discursive work, aimed at creating a living archive of Ukrainian art from the early 1980s to the present. Open to all, the Research Platform is a pioneering project designed to preserve, catalogue, and rethink historical information that is crucial for critical reflection on Ukrainian identity today and in the future.
The exhibition practice of the Research Platform includes exhibitions based on research activities, as well as the project “PAC-UA” — investments in the creation of new works by young artists.
