“Intuitive Stitching” Workshop with Nina Laguta

On Thursday, December 18, at 18:30, we invite you to a textile workshop held within the exhibition “Archipelago of History”.

The event will take place on the 5th floor in the Education Room of the PinchukArtCentre. Participation is free with prior registration. No special sewing skills are required.

The exhibition “Archipelago of History” brings together works by artists who explore a renewed relationship between Ukrainian society and its own history — where landscapes, family archives, and personal memories become as significant as grand historical narratives. Among them is the series of textile collages “Dedicated to Grandma Halia” by Oksana Briukhovetska, in which the artist combines fragments of childhood memories with symbolic imagery, creating a tender portrait of her grandmother.

Inspired by Oksana Briukhovetska’s series, workshop participants will try to transform their own memories into visual images through working with fabric.

Together with artist Nina Laguta, participants will create small textile works using the technique of intuitive stitching—a method that helps preserve treasured moments, people, or places in tactile form.

We also recommend bringing photographs connected to these memories—either printed or on your phone.

About the artist:

Nina Laguta (1994, Nova Kakhovka, Ukraine) is a contemporary sculptor working with clay, wax, and textiles. Her practice explores how trauma and power dynamics resonate through the plasticity of these materials. She lives and works in Kyiv.
