Lecture by Milena Khomchenko “Temporalities of Continents and Archipelagos”
On Friday, November 28 at 18:30, we invite you to the lecture “Temporalities of Continents and Archipelagos” by Milena Khomchenko, held as part of the public program for the exhibition “Archipelago of History.”
The event will take place on the 2nd floor, next to the PinchukArtCentre reception. Participation is free with prior registration.
In her lecture, Milena Khomchenko will provide a broader introduction to the concept of archipelagic thinking proposed by Martiniquais writer and theorist Édouard Glissant. Together, we will explore the approaches contemporary artists use to rethink history and conceptualize time.
During the event, we will discuss:
- How does archipelagic thinking differ from continental thinking?
- What understandings of time are proposed by theories of the Global South and the Global North?
- What temporalities appear in the works of Ukrainian artists: decolonial, modern, or perhaps hybrid?
