"Summer School" for Children and Teens Ages 10–14

A summer of creative discovery is just around the corner!

We invite children and teens ages 10–14 to explore the world of art and bring their boldest ideas to life in a three-day course, “Timeless Workshop,” led by artist Maria Vasylenko.

Dates: June 24–26 Classes will take place Wednesday through Friday in the education room on the 5th floor of PinchukArtCentre. Start time: 12:15 PM. Each session lasts 1.5 hours.

Please note that each course requires attendance at all three sessions. Participation is free. Registration is required.

This is a course about imagination, matter, and the small alchemy of colour — one that begins with a simple question: how is paint made?

Over three days, participants will explore the medieval technique of tempera, uncover the timelessness of painting, and create pigments from organic materials, wine, and other natural substances. They will also work with imagined forms and monumental compositions on specially crafted boards of unusual formats, where the shape of the surface itself becomes part of the image.

About the course author and instructor: Maria Vasylenko is an artist working with painting and spatial projects at the intersection of contemporary art, philosophy, and sacred visual traditions. In her practice, she constructs her own mythological space, engaging with themes of perception, memory, time, and the hidden structures of reality. In 2024, she presented her solo exhibition “A place that doesn’t exist” at The Naked Room, and participated in group exhibitions in Ukraine and abroad, including in Kyiv, Kharkiv (Liubotyn), Barcelona, and London.
