The PinchukArtCentre presents a group show of the 20 artists shortlisted for the PinchukArtCentre Prize 2011, first private nationwide contemporary art prize in Ukraine for young Ukrainian artists up to 35. The exhibition features 20 new artists’ statements which were specially produced with the support of the PinchukArtCentre. The exhibition will be open from October 29, 2011 until January 8, 2012.
The 20 nominees for the PinchukArtCentre Prize 2011 were shortlisted by an Expert Committee from more than 1100 applicants. Among them: Daniil Galkin, Andriy Halashyn, Dobrynia Ivanov, Mykyta Kadan, Zhanna Kadyrova, Taras Kamennoy, Olesia Khomenko, Alina Kleitman, Volodymyr Kuznetsov, Lada Nakonechna, Serhiy Petlyuk, Serhiy Radkevych, Stepan Riabchenko, Mykola Ridnyi, Mykyta Shalennyi, Masha Shubina, Natasha Shulte, Ivan Svitlychnyi, Hamlet Zinkovskyi, Salmanov-Kornienko group (Oleksiy Salmanov; Dmytro Kornienko).
The project includes more than 60 works and will be on display on the 3rd and 4th floor, including a special installation in front of the PinchukArtCentre by Zhanna Kadyrova and a monumental mural inside of the historical Bessarabskiy market by Serhiy Radkevych. PinchukArtCentre continues with these two works to bring contemporary art into the public space embedding it in daily life.

Mykyta Kadan became the winner of the Main Prize of the PinchukArtCentre Prize 2011.
Zhanna Kadyrova and Serhiy Radkevych were awarded Special Prizes PinchukArtCentre 2011, and Public Choice Prize went to Mykyta Shalennyi.
The winner of the Public Choice Prize was determined by the vote of the Prize exhibition visitors. The voting lasted from October 27 to December 4, 2011 at the PinchukArtCentre.
The winners of the Main and two Special Prizes, besides cash awards of UAH 100 000 and UAH 25 000 respectively, will have one month residence in studios of internationally renowned artists. Additionally, the winner of the Main Prize will be automatically included in the short list of the Future Generation Art Prize 2012 – international prize for young artists. The winner in the “Public Choice Prize” nomination will be awarded UAH 10 000.

Andriy Halashyn
Born on December 1, 1979, in Ternopil. Graduated from Ivan Trush College of Arts and Crafts in Lviv and Lviv Academy of Arts. Since 2001 resides in Costa Rica, Central America. Nominated for the PinchukArtCentre Prize in 2009.

Daniil Galkin
Born on July 30, 1985, in Dnipropetrovsk. He studied at the Dnipropetrovsk Theatre College. In 2009 begins work on pilot project as part of the art group “2222”, which consists of alter-personalities of a single author (himself). He lives in Dnipropetrovsk.

Mykyta Kadan
The Winner of the Main Prize, PinchukArtCentre Prize 2011
Born on November 26, 1982, in Kyiv. In 2007 graduated from the National Academy of Art and Architecture in Kyiv. He studied at the studio of Professor M.A. Storozhenko. Since 2004 is a member of artistic groups R.E.P. Since 2008 he is a member of curatorial association Hudrada. Painter, graphic artist, author of objects and installations, works in the urban public environment. Co-curator (within R.E.P. and Hudrada) of exhibitions. He lives in Kyiv. Nominated for the PinchukArtCentre Prize in 2009.

Zhanna Kadyrova
The Winner of the First Special Prize, PinchukArtCentre Prize 2011
Zhanna Kadyrova graduated from Taras Shevchenko State Art School, Kyiv. She works in various media: photography, painting, drawing and sculpture, she is particularly known for her sculptural works in public space. Nominated for the PinchukArtCentre Prize in 2009, she became the first Special Prize Winner of the PinchukArtCentre in 2011 with her “Asphalt” works. Kadyrova is the member of the R.E.P. group and Penoplast musical performance group. She has elaborated her own recognizable artistic style distinguished by using fractured tiles.

Alina Kleitman
Born August 5, 1991 in Kharkiv. Studied at the studios of sculptors Jeanette Solovieva, Oleksandr Ridnyi, studios of graphics artist and painter Vitaly Kulikov, sculptor and graphics artist Vladimir Kochmar. In 2009 joined the Kharkiv State Academy of Arts and Design. In 2010 gallery-laboratory «y rozu» was opened. Resides in Kharkiv.

Born on March 8, 1981 in Ivano-Frankivsk. Graduated from Precarpathian Vasyl Stefanyk university (Ivano-Frankivsk) and Lviv National Academy of Arts. In 2009 and 2011 became winner of a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture Poland Gaude Polonia. Works in various media: installation, video installation, new media, painting. He is one of the organizers and participants of the art formation KOMA. Lives in Lviv.

The Winner of the Second Special Prize, PinchukArtCentre Prize 2011
Born on November 1, 1987 in Lutsk. Graduated from Lviv National Academy of Arts, Department of Painting. Was part of the team creating a mosaic mural at the Church of Nativity in Lviv. Has been engaged in Street Art for more than seven years. Resides in Lutsk.

Stepan Riabchenko
Born on October 17, 1987 in Odesa. Architect, media artist, graphic artist and installations author. In his work he uses modern computer technology. In 2005 he joined Odesa State Academy of Construction and Architecture. 2010 – Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. Winner of the First Ukrainian Triennial of abstract art “ART-ACT.” Lives and works in Odessa.

Ivan Svitlychnyi
Born on December 16, 1988 in Kharkiv. 2005-2006 – studied in studios of V. Kochmar, V. Shaposhnikov, V. Kulikov, G. Ivanova. Currently studies at Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Arts. In 2009, collaborated with V. Kokhan. Since then the following projects has been created “Moulds and sweets,” “Documentation”, “Crumpled sketches,” “Lamps” and etc. He is a founder and curator of art selforganization “01011101”. Resides in Kharkiv.

Olesia Khomenko
Born on November 26, 1980 in Kyiv. She graduated from the National Academy of Art and Architecture of Ukraine. She is a co-founder and member of R.E.P. group and curatorial group “Hudrada.” Artistic strategies: the post-Soviet experience (in particular the problems of traditional academic art education today), a combination of aesthetic and political, issues of human relationship with space and etc. Resides in Kiev. Nominated for the PinchukArtCentre Prize in 2009.

The Winner of the Public Choice Prize, PinchukArtCentre Prize 2011
Born on April 18, 1982 in Dnipropetrovsk. Graduated from the Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Department of Architecture. He took part in a number of architectural competitions and art exhibitions at the Academy. Worked as a lecturer of the Academy and as an architect. Resides in Dnepropetrovsk.
