Lynette Yiadom-Boakye, the Main Prize Winner of the Future Generation Art Prize 2012, has been nominated for the Turner Prize 2013

29 April 2013

Lynette Yiadom-Boakye, the Main Prize Winner of the Future Generation Art Prize 2012, has been nominated for the Turner Prize 2013 for her exhibition at Chisenhale Gallery Extracts and Verses.

As the Main Prize Winner of the Future Generation Art Prize 2012 Lynette Yiadom-Boakye will present her works at the Future Generation Art Prize@Venice 2013 organized by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation and the PinchukArtCentre. The show will include 21 artists, from 16 different countries, who were shortlisted in the second edition of the first global art prize for artists up to 35.

Three other artists shortlisted for the Turner Prize this year are: Laure Prouvost, Tino Sehgal, and David Shrigley.

The Turner Prize is awarded to a British artist under fifty each year. Artists are nominated for an exhibition (or other presentation of their work) that took place in the twelve months preceding 16 April 2013. While the four shortlisted artists display their work at a Turner Prize exhibition, the jury award the prize for the originally nominated presentation.

Work by the shortlisted artists will be shown in an exhibition at Ebrington in Derry-Londonderry as part of the UK City of Culture 2013, opening on 23 October 2013. The winner will be announced at an awards ceremony on Monday 2 December 2013.
