Theme Tour “Escape from Reality”
Wednesday, November 12, 19:00

On WednesdayNovember 12at 19:00the PinchukArtCentre invites to join Theme Tour entitled“Escape from Reality”

The tour participants will talk about different forms of escapism in contemporary art, having as examples the artworks by Damien Hirst and nominees for the Future Generation Art Prize 2014 James Bridle, Jon Rafman, Cecile B. Evans and Aslan Gaisumov. In addition, visitors will analyze, why and where artists escape, and will try to find psychological reasons for such “escapes from reality”.

The event starts at 19:00 on the 2nd floor of the art centre, reception area. The tour will be guided by the PinchukArtCentre’s guide Valeria Lazarenko.

Registered event attendees will have priority entry to the art centre without queuing.

Twister (8-11 years): Associations
Friday, November 14, 16:00

On Friday, November 14, at 16:00 the PinchukArtCentre invites kids to the “Twister” session entitled “Associations”. Especially for the younger members of the club, educational department of the art center has developed a new version of the long-familiar games “Alias”, “Association” and “Crocodile” with an intention to help better understand of contemporary art. As part of the session, participants will receive a “useful food for thought” and look at contemporary art from a different perspective.

The event will commence at 16:00 on the 5th floor, Education Room. PinchukArtCentre’s guideLora Ischenko will host the session.

A series of fascinating educational games "Twister", developed by PinchukArtCentre team, will help young visitors become better at understanding the language of contemporary art, look differently at the shown artworks and find out the most interesting facts about the life and career of their authors. During the lessons kids, by playing, will be filled into the genres and forms of art, will discuss the content of artworks, will try themselves as a modern artists and will create their own museum of contemporary art.

Participation is free of charge. Advance registration is compulsory. The group size is limited to 15 participants.

PinchukArtCentre and Public Movement Invite Public to Take Part in “Cross Section” Performance in Kyiv, Ukraine
Saturday, November 15, 15:00

On Saturday, November 15, 2014, within the scope of Art Weekend the PinchukArtCentre andPublic Movement (Israel), the nominee for the third edition of the Future Generation Art Prize, invite public to take part in the premiere of the “Cross Section”This outdoor performance will present a series of physical encounters taking place at Triokhsviatytelska Street in Kyiv, Ukraine, starting from “Ukrainian House” and proceeding towards the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Mykhailivska Square that are two significant geopolitical points in the recent history of Ukraine.  

Public Movement will perform the actions of resistance, compassion, joy, and conflict. “Cross Section” will include scattered ceremonies, exercises of citizenship, and manifestations of power and vulnerability. The action is offered as a temporal structure of physical memory to be experienced together in public, a ritual that disappears while it happens.

“Cross Section” will be executed by local performers, thus becoming a new cell of Public Movement in Kyiv.

On November 15 the coordinators will meet the audience at 14:30 next to the entrance to Hotel Dnipro, 1/2 Khreshchatyk str., Kyiv, Ukraine. They will keep flags with Public Movement identity. The performance itself will start at 15:00.

Art Detectives (for 9-10 year-olds): Art – what is it?

On Saturday, November 15, 2014, at 15:00, the PinchukArtCentre invites 9-10 year old art lovers to the Art Detectives session, entitled “Art – what is it?”.  

The event will take place on the 5th floor of the art center in the Educational room.

The classes will be held by Anna Honchar and Lora Ishchenko, PinchukArtCentre guides.

"Art detective" is a game that goes on at home after completing studies, promotes closer fellowship of family members, encourages parents to solving problems together with children and improves understanding between different generations.

Walking talking (11-12 years): Real and virtual: which one is more interesting?

On Saturday, November 15, 2014, at 14:00, the PinchukArtCentre invites 11-12 year old art lovers to the Walking–Talking class entitled “Real and virtual: which one is more interesting?”. Class participants will view artworks of the artists who use Internet technologies as a main medium in their art, analyzing the meanings hidden in the art objects, and will also talk about advantages/disadvantages of the virtual world, which artist offer to have a look at. 

The event will start in the reception area on the 2nd floor of the art centre and will be hosted by PinchukArtCentre guide Anna Honchar.

Participation is free of charge. Registration is mandatory. Maximum number of children in the group is 10.

PinchukArtCentre and Chilean artist Pilar Quinteros Invite Everyone to Take Part in an Outdoor Performance at Maidan in Kyiv, Ukraine
Sunday, November 16, 13:00

On Sunday, November 16, 2014 the PinchukArtCentre and Chilean artist Pilar Quinteros, one of 21 artists nominated for the Future Generation Art Prize, invite public to join a outdoor performance called “Friendship of Peoples Fountain”. The participants will be helping the artist to build a cardboard reconstruction of the original Fountain that was removed from Maidan (Independence Square) in Kyiv, Ukraine after the renovations in 2001.

The event will begin at 12:00 next to the entrance of the PinchukArtCentre where all participants of the performance will get cardboard parts of the fountain made by Pilar Quinteros. They will help carry the pieces of the fountain to Maidan where the artist will assemble the work back on its original position.

We recommend the participants to wear comfortable footwear and warm clothes as the event will take place outdoor and will last about one hour.

Additionally, the artist and the PinchukArtCentre also invite all Kyiv habitants and guests of the capital to come and see the artistic performance at Maidan next to the Globus shopping mall glass dome while Pilar Quinteros will be reconstructing just for one day the iconic architectural object that used to be one of Kyiv’s symbols for many decades. The performance at Maidan begins at 13:00.

 

Family Sundays (4-6 years): Games and people
Sunday, November 16, 12:00 

On Sunday, November 16, at 12:00 the PinchukArtCentre invites children aged 4 to 6 years to a Family Sunday class entitled “Games and people”, where kids will learn about history of games and play old equivalents of modern pastime.

While touring through the exhibition of the Future Generation Art Prize 2014 nominees, kids will be searching for elements of children's games in the art work and will reflect on the roles these elements play in the works of art. In the creative part of the session young art centre guests will make a mini-set of “Memo” game cards which can be played either there or at home with parents.

The event starts on the 5th floor of the art centre, in the Educational Room and will be hosted by the PinchukArtCentre’s guide Olga Shyshlova and artist Kateryna Vronska. 

Meanwhile, parents can join one of the regular exhibition tours led by qualified PinchukArtCentre guides.

Participation is free of charge. Registration is mandatory. Maximum number of children in the group is 20.

On SundayNovember 16at 19:00the PinchukArtCentre invites to join Theme Tour entitled “City Landscape: from Polis to Pozniaky”

The tour participants will examine urban space as a place for implementing social practices, and as a tool for shaping urban utopias. Referring to the works of the Future Generation Art Prize 2014 nominees Allyson Vieira, Aslan Gaisumov, Zhanna Kadyrova, Nikita Kadan, Pilar Quinteros and Ximena Garrido-Lecca, visitors will analyze city as a form of collective memory, and also will talk about the factors that influence formation of social landscape.

The event starts at 19:00 on the 2nd floor of the art centre, reception area. The tour will be guided by the PinchukArtCentre’s guide Valeria Karpan.
