Theme Tour “Forms of memory: from oral lore to museum”
Wednesday, November 19, 19:00

On Wednesday, November 19, at 19:00 the PinchukArtCentre invites you to a theme tour entitled“Forms of memory: from oral lore to museum.” While viewing the exhibition of the Future Generation Art Prize 2014 nominees, in particular the works by Carlos Motta, Jia Aili, Nikita Kadan, Aslan Gaysumov and Pilar Quinteros, the tour participants will reflect such aspects as who exactly forms and deforms memory, how memory continues to exist after attempts of destroying it, and why contemporary artists keep addressing the subject of memory.

The event starts at 19:00 on the 2nd floor of the art centre, reception area. The tour will be guided by the PinchukArtCentre’s guide Ksenia Utevska.

 

Twister (8-11 years): Art puzzles
Friday, November 21, 16:00

On Friday, November 21, at 16:00 the PinchukArtCentre invites kids to the first “Twister” session entitled “Art puzzles”. This time children will try to make sense of what contemporary art is, and will get acquainted with its main types. In addition, session participants will visit exhibition of the nominees for the Future Generation Art Prize 2014, and will play “jigsaw puzzles” to consolidate new knowledge.

The event will commence at 16:00 on the 5th floor, Education Room. PinchukArtCentre’s guideAnna Honchar will host the session. Participation is free of charge. Advance registration is compulsory. The group size is limited to 15 participants.

 

Walking talking (11-12 years): New technologies in art /Talk2PHIL

On Saturday, November 22, 2014, at 14:00, the PinchukArtCentre invites 11-12 year old art lovers to the Walking–Talking class entitled “New technologies in art /Talk2PHIL”

Technology develops non-stop and makes our lives easier, but scientists move forward creating robots and artificial intelligence. Thus, our world increasingly resembles a scene from “science fiction” films about future. Is this good or bad, and how to face the future that is here already -  this is what class participants will try to understand after the study of artificial intelligence, represented in the art object of the Future Generation Art Prize nominee Cecil B. Evans, and will find out whether technology can be a friend.

The PinchukArtCentre tour guide Anna Honchar will host the eventShe will meet children at 14:00 on the 2nd floor at the information desk.  Participation is free of charge. Registration is mandatory. Maximum number of children in the group is 10.

 

Family Sundays (7-9 years): Museum: watch and learn
Sunday, November 23, 12:00

On Sunday, November 23, at 12:00 the PinchukArtCentre invites children aged 4 to 6 years to a Family Sunday class entitled “Museum: watch and learn”, where kids will hear about educational role of a museum, i.e. why people visit it and how it enlightens them. During the session, kids themselves will create a video “Introduction to museum” and invite their parents to the screening of the film.

The event starts on the 5th floor of the art centre, in the Educational Room and will be hosted by the PinchukArtCentre’s guide Olga Shyshlova and artist Kateryna Vronska. Participation is free of charge. Registration is mandatory. Maximum number of children in the group is 20.


Theme Tour “Data analysis: artist’s view»

On Sunday, November 23, at 19:00 the PinchukArtCentre invites to a special theme tour “Data analysis: artist’s view.” How dry language of numbers can become a work of art? How artist's imagination turns statistics into unusual, intriguing images? How to understand the language of contemporary artists; how to decipher the hidden data; where artists draw this data from and why? Tour participants will find answers to all these and many other questions while examining art objects created by the Future Generation Art Prize 2014 nominees James Bridle, Rossella Biscotti, Adrian Melis and Nastio Mosquito.

The event starts at 19:00 on the 2nd floor of the art centre, reception area. The tour will be guided by the PinchukArtCentre’s guide Anna HoncharParticipation is free of charge. Registration is mandatory.
