On July 25 and 27, the PinchukArtCentre invites to a lecture in the framework of the special programme, “Fripulia. Beyond the Canon”, that complements the exhibition “Fedir Tetyanych. Canon Fripulia” (PinchukArtCentre Research Platform). The programme features documentaries about the person of Fedir Tetyanych (1942–2007), as well as lectures and guided tours that offer a broader view on his work.

Calendar:

The film director, Sviatoslav Feofilaktov, offers an extended view on the Fripulia phenomenon through personal memories of the artist’s family, opinions of art experts and critics. The film was produced after the artist’s passing away, based on family archival materials and interviews with relatives and friends.

Event participants: Sviatoslav Feofilaktov, director, script author and cameraman, and Tetiana Zhmurko, art critic, PinchukArtCentre researcher, senior fellow at the National Art Museum of Ukraine.

The event will take place on the 6th level of PinchukArtCentre.

The environment issue was indeed a preoccupation for Fedir Tetyanych who believed that the planet can be saved if waste is transformed into pieces of art. During the lecture, the researcher of the PinchukArtCentre Tetiana Zhmurko will tell about the main “environmental” principles that artists are guided by in their work, and Yevhenia Aratovska, the founder of Ukraine without Waste eco-project, will tell about the existing Ukrainian cases that save the country from the numerous waste deposits.

The event will take place on the 6th level of PinchukArtCentre.

Free entrance. Registration obligatory.

The event will be held in partnership with the civic project “Ukraine without Waste”.

Programme curator: Tetiana Zhmurko.

The exhibition “Fedir Tetyanych. Canon Fripulia” is focused on one of the sides of the multifaceted creative work of artist Fedir Tetyanych whose artistic practice encompassed painting, drawing, sculpture, text, performance etc. In contrast to the “trash aesthetics”, the exhibition makes an attempt to conceptualise the artist’s practice by reflecting on his texts and presenting them as a self-sufficient medium and an integral part of his artistic oeuvre.
