PinchukArtCentre invites teachers of Ukrainian schools to participate in the educational program Understanding the Museum for Teachers which was specially developed by the art centre specialists. The program is intended to encourage teachers to study art by exploring museum practices, to promote art lectures and workshops in schools, and to promote cooperation between art institutions and schools. The project will help to examine and explore intellectual, emotional and physical powers of contemporary art through the exhibitions presented at the PinchukArtCentre.
The program is open to teachers of any discipline, working with pupils of the Year 5 - 11. Maximum number of teachers in a group is 15.
The first course of study will consist of two sessions. During the first session teachers will explore development of the museum as an institution, and will analyze specifics of the contemporary art centres. During the second session, though the example of the show of the shortlisted artists for the Future Generation Art Prize 2012 they will study an exhibition as a basis of museum communications and will discuss it with a guest artist.
In addition, program participants will develop their own methodological approaches for planning visits of schoolchildren (lectures, excursions, and etc.) to the museum.
Art critic and participant of the PinchukArtCentre’s Curatorial Platform Tetiana Kochubinska in collaboration with the architect Ivan Yunakov and artist Lada Nakonechna will host the sessions.

14:00 – 15:30 – lecture “Contemporary Art Museum. Modern Architectural Solutions” followed by a discussion. Hosted by Tetiana Kochubinska and Ivan Yunakov.

Second session
December 20, 2012:
14:00 – 15:30 – lecture “Exhibition as a Basis of Museum Communications” followed by a discussion. Hosted by Tetiana Kochubinska;
16.00 – coffee break;
16:00 – 17:30 – talk with artist Lada Nakonechna about exhibition of the shortlisted artists for the Future Generation Art Prize 2012.
