As part of the Chapman Brothers and Tony Oursler exhibition projects the PinchukArtCentre holds a Literature Night on April 5

4 April 2013

On Friday, April 5, 2013, at 19:30 the PinchukArtCentre invites to a Literary Night entitled “Ousler, the Chapman Brothers and the magic number of Ukrainian writers in the “Fuckin’ Hell” project.” The event is intended to continue a dialogue between art and literature, to demonstrate the possibilities of interaction between them, and to create a platform for viewing the showcased works through a new and uncommon "textual" lens. Literature Nights feature famous Ukrainian writers and poets.  Admission is free, registration is required.

19:30–21:00
Space with Shitrospective by the Chapman Brothers, 3rd floor

The Chapman Brothers “Shitrospective” is a brilliant example of ‘self-mockery’. Self-irony, brazen violation of the most sacred taboos, exaggeration of the details invisible to the consumer’s eye - after all, these same words can used to describe the nature of poetry the performer-authors Anna Malihon, Artem Polezhaka, Svitlana Povaliaeva and a living classic Sashko Irvanets, who will play a role of mediums in the opening part of the event.

 20:00–21:00
Space with “Open Obscura” by Tony Oursler, 4th floor

This part of the night will combine the infernal beauty of the “Open Obscura” by Tony Ouslera with an accurate and sharp sensibility of the poetry by Halia Kruk. Listener-viewers will find themselves in a somewhat unusual situation, or rather, position – they will be lying down. They will try to find out whether perception of poetry changes depending on a body position.

21:00–22:00
Space with The Sum of Аll Evil by the Chapman Brothers, 2nd floor

“The Sum of All Evil” of the Chapman Brothers will be voiced by four very dissimilar writers. Different gender, different languages, “new blood” against professionals. In a prose slam on the topic of internal or external hell will battle (or run around the circles of this hell) Anton Fridlyand, Anton Kushnir, Oksana Forostyna and Yulia Savostina.

Event curator is Ukrainian writer, singer, journalist and TV-presenter  Irena Karpa.

Due to limited number of seats, we kindly ask for registration by telephone +38 044 590-08-58 or e-mail [email protected]
