Saturday Talk “The Canons of Classical Chinese Art in the Modern Reading

On Saturday, June 15, at 15:00 the PinchukArtCentre invites to attend Saturday Talk “The Canons of Classical Chinese Art in the Modern Reading” focusing on the peculiarities of the traditional Chinese art.  In addition, based on the presented information, the event participants will analyze whether there is still a place for tradition in the contemporary art of China. 

The discussion will be held by Marta Logvyn, a leading researcher at the Department of Oriental Art of Bohdan and Varvara Khanenko National Museum of Art, and Tetiana Kochubinska, participant the PinchukArtCentre’s Curatorial Platform.

The event will take place at 15:00 on the 2nd floor этаже арт-центра возле стойки информации.

“China China” is a major group exhibition including eleven Chinese artists of different generations, focusing on the tension between individuality and collective thinking - a subject, which not only defined Chinese history and continuously shapes contemporary society but equally gains importance in the West.

The exhibition includes the works of: Ai Weiwei, Cao Fei, Chen Zhen, Sun Xun,
Sun Yuan & Peng Yu, Xu Zhen, Yan Xing, Yang Fudong, Zhang Huan, Zhao Yao, Zhao Zhao
.

 

Theme Tour “Dialogue of Global and Local in Art Objects of Contemporary Artists”

On Saturday, June 15, at 17:00 the PinchukArtCentre invites to attend Saturday Talk “Dialogue of Global and Local in Art Objects of Contemporary Artists”.

During the tour of exhibitions “China China” and “Collection Platform 4: Emotions and Technology”, visitors will find out how an art object reaches a “global” level, while maintaining the elements of the “local”. 

The event starts at 17:00 on the 2nd floor of the art centre, reception area. The tour will be guided by art critic Asia Bazdyrieva.

Thematic tours can be arranged on request for schools and universities.

 

Family Sundays – Sunday art classes at the PinchukArtCentre

On Sunday, June 16, at 14:00 PinchukArtCentre invites all children aged 7 through 9 to a special Family Sunday class Consumption.

During the class children will talk about the evolution of human needs and formation of the modern approach to consumption. The discussion will also deal with the theme of fashion and its influence on people’s desires and dreams. In addition, children will view selected works of the exhibition "China China", and together with the PinchukArtCentre’s tour guide Olga Shishlova and artist Kateryna Vronska will create a composition "My Desire", using a mixed technique.

Meanwhile, parents can join one of the regular exhibition tours led by qualified PinchukArtCentre guides.

Maximum number of children in the group is 20. Registration is mandatory.

4 - 6 years: 23 June, 7 July, 21 July, 4 August, 18 August, 1 September, 15 September, 29 September.

7 - 9 years: 30 June, 14 July, 28 July, 11 August, 25 August, 8 September, 22 September, 6 October.

 

Theme Tour “Evolution of an Artwork as an Object”

On Sunday, June 16, at 17:00 the PinchukArtCentre invites all visitors to join a Thematic Tour “Evolution of an Artwork as an Object.” 

Participants of the tour will analyze the evolution of perception of art as an object, viewing the “China China” works of by the Chinese artists such as Chen Zhen, one of the pioneers of installation art; Sun Yuan and Peng Yu who explore transformation and live through their works involving performers; Zhao Yao, who reflects on how an art object gains meaning.

The event starts at 17:00 on the 2nd floor of the art centre, reception area. The tour will be guided by Tetiana Zhmurko, the PinchukArtCentre’s tour guide.

Thematic tours can be arranged on request for schools and universities.
