Educational program for children Walking-Talking: Art class
On Saturday, August 3, 2013, at 14:00, the PinchukArtCentre invites 10 to 12 year old children to join the first Walking –Talking class, in the series of classes entitled Basic Categories of China Contemporary Art Discourse. The topic of the first event is Art.
Event participants will become familiar with a variety of genres of Chinese art: traditional painting - guohua, wall murals – hua bi and popular comic manhua. Exploring and comparing works by Richard Prince, Zhang Huan and Sun Xun, children will be able to answer the following questions: what are the functions of art? How elite art differs from the mass art? How an object can acquire a status of an art object? A surprise task will help young visitors to use newly acquired knowledge in the process of creating their own art objects.
The event will be hosted by the PinchukArtCentre’s tour guide Liudmyla Bulanova and artist Maria Kulykivska.
The class will start at 14:00 in the reception area on the 2nd floor of the art centre.
Maximum number of children in the group is 10. Registration is mandatory.
Walking - Talking is a new education program for children ages 10 to 12. Young art centre visitors will be participating in specially designed investigative tours of the exhibitions that will help them better understand art objects.
Theme Tour “Dialogue of Global and Local in Art Objects of Contemporary Artists”
On Saturday, August 3, at 17:00 the PinchukArtCentre invites to attend Theme Tour “Dialogue of Global and Local in Art Objects of Contemporary Artists”.
During the tour of exhibitions “China China” and “Collection Platform 4: Emotions and Technology”, visitors will find out how an art object reaches a “global” level, while maintaining the elements of the “local”.
The event starts at 17:00 on the 2nd floor of the art centre, reception area. The tour will be guided by art-critic Asya Bazdireva.
Thematic tours can be arranged on request for schools and universities.
Family Sundays – a class for children aged 7 through 9
On Sunday, August 4, at 14:00 PinchukArtCentre invites all children aged 7 through 9 to a Family Sunday class Flowers and Birds where young visitors will discover the world of traditional Chinese painting, full of charming views of birds and flowers.
Together with teacher Lyudmila Bulanova children will compare images of flora and fauna in the works of Chinese artist Sun Xun and British artist Marc Quinn. During the master class with artist Kateryna Vronska kids will create their own characters based on the reviewed works of art.
Family Sunday starts at 14:00 on the 6th floor in the SkyArtCafe’s video-lounge.
Meanwhile, parents can join one of the regular exhibition tours led by qualified PinchukArtCentre guides.
Maximum number of children in the group is 20. Registration is mandatory.

Theme Tour “Contemporary history of China and Ukraine. Points of tangency”
On Sunday, August 4, at 17:00 PinchukArtCentre invites all visitors to join a Thematic Tour “Contemporary history of China and Ukraine. Points of tangency”.
Turbulent social and political developments that took place in the twentieth century on the territory of modern China and Ukraine could not but be embodied in art objects: revolutions, dictatorship, "rewriting" of history, secrecy, etc. Through the example of the works by Sun Xun, Zhang Huan and Xu Zhen which are presented at the exhibition “China China”, the tour participants will explore different tangents in the history of Ukraine and China, and will try to analyze how art reflects these traumatic and painful events.
The event starts at 17:00 on the 2nd floor of the art centre, reception area. The tour will be guided by Natalya Shostak, the PinchukArtCentre’s tour guide.
Thematic tours can be arranged on request for schools and universities.
