ANTIAIDS Foundation and the PinchukArtCentre launch educational art program for HIV-positive children

The Elena Pinchuk ANTIAIDS Foundation together with the PinchukArtCentre initiate an educational art programs for children affected by HIV/AIDS. This project is intended to help HIV-positive children learn to express their emotions and feelings through art, and to introduce the project participants to the world of contemporary art, its most famous representatives, works and ideas. The project is supported by the Right-Bank Department of Kyiv branch of the All-Ukrainian Network of People Living with HIV.

As part of the program, children will visit exhibition Where There’s a Will, There’s a Way – a joint project by the ANTIADS Foundation and the PinchukArtCentre dedicated to the theme of HIV/AIDS and presented in the art centre on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Elena Pinchuk ANTIAIDS Foundation. During the tour of the exhibition, children will learn about AIDS epidemics and how Ukrainian and international artists have been reacting to it through their works.

Special art-program was developed by the PinchukArtCentre experts for three age groups: 4-7 year olds, 8-11 year olds and children over 12 years of age. He project is designed to introduce young participants to the notions of art, artist, museum, colour, form, space, emotions, associations and etc.

Additionally, children aged 12 and older will participate in a practical session of producing art by using smartphones presented as a gift by the partner of the project, Kyivstar company. The art produces during the practical session will be published on the communication platform safeconnection.org dedicated to safe sex and healthy life style, as well as in the Safe Connection group pages in Facebook and VK, helping to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS among teenagers.

Funds for this project were raised at the charity auction organized by Elena Pinchuk ANTIAIDS Foundation and LEPS BAR karaoke bar. The lots of the auction were anti-war t-shirts from Fashion AID collection, united by the slogan “Make love, not war”. 

This educational art program is a follow up to the project “Learn to be happy” launched in 2012 by the ANTIAIDS Foundation in partnership with the Right-Bank Department of Kyiv branch of the All-Ukrainian Network of People Living with HIV.
