Curatorial tour with Deputy Artistic Director of the PinchukArtCentre Björn Geldhof of Jan Fabre exhibition  

On Wednesday, 4 June 2014, at 19:00 Björn Geldhof, the PinchukArtCentre’s Deputy Artistic Director, will guide a curatorial tour of the solo show by the Belgian artist Jan Fabre dedicated to the Belgium’s colonial past. During the event Björn Geldhof, curator of the exhibition, will analyze art works presented at the show and explain artistic position of Jan Fabre.

The event will start on the 2nd floor of the art centre, next to the reception. The tour will be conducted in English without translation.

Jan Fabre (born Antwerp, 1958) first attained international recognition with works such as
The Hour Blue (1977–1992) and his 1980 performance Ilad of the Bic-Art. Over the last thirty-five years, he has occupied a leading international position as a groundbreaking visual artist, theatre maker and author. Fabre has shown worldwide in solo and group exhibitions at leading institutions, among them a large-scale retrospective at the Louvre in Paris 2008.

 

Walking-Talking educational program for 11-12 year olds

On Saturday, June 7, 2014, at 14:00, the PinchukArtCentre invites 11-12 year old art lovers to the Walking–Talking session, entitled “Mutual Understanding”.

The event will start at 14:00 in the reception area on the 2nd floor of the art centre and will be hosted by culture expert Liudmyla Bulanova-Duvalko.

Educational game “Art Detectives” for 9-10 year olds

On Saturday, June 7, 2014, at 15:00 the PinchukArtCentre will hold another round of “Art Detectives” under the topic of “Mysterious art crimes: Who Stole the Mona Lisa?”. During the session children will hear fascinating stories about museum theft and forged art, as well as discuss why art works are often targeted by criminals.

The event will take place on the 5th floor of the art centre in the Educational room and will be hosted by the PinchukArtCentre’s guides Anna Honchar and Lora Ischenko.

Participation is free. Advanced registration is obligatory. Group size is limited to 15 participants.

Family Sundays – Art and Education class for children aged 4 through 6

On Sunday, June 8, at 12:00 the PinchukArtCentre invites children aged 4 to 6 years to a Family Sunday class on I and We, during which the participants will be introduced to the concept of individuality.

During the tour children will review the steel work “Fivefold Eye” by Olafur Eliasson, a series of photographs “Abstract realism” by Ilya Chychkan and “Crowd” by Zhanna Kadyrova. After this, the children will try to answer such questions as Who am I? Why are we all different? What does unite us? and will create their own collage.

The event starts at 12:00 on the 5th floor of the art centre, in the Educational Room and will be hosted by the PinchukArtCentre’s guide Olga Shyshlova and artist Kateryna Vronska.

Meanwhile, parents can join one of the regular exhibition tours led by qualified PinchukArtCentre guides.

Maximum number of children in the group is 20. Registration is mandatory.
