Theme Tour “In the footsteps of the USSR”

On Wednesday, July 16, at 19:00 the PinchukArtCentre invites to the theme tour entitled “In the footsteps of the USSR” where tour participants will focus their attention on the relics and rudiments of the Soviet epoch that are still present in the Ukrainian life: in practices, views and beliefs. The event participants will analyze the works of Mykyta Kadan, Zhanna Kadyrova, Boris Mikhailov and Jurgen Teller.

The tour starts at 19:00 on the 2nd floor of the art centre, reception area. It will be guided by the PinchukArtCentre’s guide Arseniy Tarasov.

 

SUMMERpropaganda from PinchukArtCentre and Docudays UA: lecture “Memory constructor” 

On Wednesday, 16 July, at 19:00 the PinchukArtCentre and Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival invite to attend lecture “Memory constructor” in the framework of SUMMERpropaganda project.

The lecture given by historian, reporter and vice president of the Ukrainian National Memory Institute Oleksandr Zinchenko will be dedicated to the role of “stretching the past” both in social transformation and humanitarian development. It will cover questions such as: Is it possible to construct a memory about the past? Is it possible to cure memory and to overcome the "gravity of the past"? and etc.

 

SUMMERpropaganda from PinchukArtCentre and Docudays UA: screening of documentary The Last Limuzine

On Thursday, 17 July, at 19:00 the PinchukArtCentre and Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival invite to screening of the documentaries “The Last Limuzine” (director Daria Khlestkina, Russia, 2014, 73 min) in the framework of SUMMERpropaganda project.

Faced with the relentless demise of the factory they work at, Mikhail, Andrey, Nina, Vladimir, Nadia and Luda – bosses, foremen, engineers and workers at the giant Moscow automobile plant ZIL – cling to their established routines and professional pride to stay upright in a world which is crumbling around them. When an order comes in to produce three of the factory’s legendary hand-made limousines, once the centerpiece of Soviet military parades on Moscow’s Red Square, Mikhail’s team of hand-picked specialists throws itself at the opportunity to show what they are worth.

After the documentaries the audience will have a chance to join featuring film critic Nadia Zavarova. 

 

Color Bubbles: educational program for 4-5 year olds

Starting from July 19, 2014, the PinchukArtCentre invites 4-5 year olds to participate in a new edition of the educational program Color Bubbles. The program is designed to promote better understanding of the art language, to acquaint children with a variety of contemporary art practices, to develop aesthetic sense and encourage creativity in them.

This time the program will consist of five sessions conducted by specialists of the PinchukArtCentre, as well as invited artists, educators and art critics. Activities will include theory, discussions, and practical master class where children will be able to try themselves as artists. Through the example of the art works presented in the PinchukArtCentre children will learn about the concepts of color, true and imaginary, emotion, time and associations in art.

On Saturday, July 19, 2014, at 12:00 pm there will be the first session of the Color Bubbles “Colors: colorful world around us.” During the event, young participants will view hyper-realistic paintings by Marc Quinn entitled “The 5th season” with exotic flowers, fruits and berries.   Following that they will learn to distinguish and classify color types: light/dark, warm/cold, bright/dull, and etc. The event will take place on the 5th floor of the art centre, in the Educational Room.

Maximum number of children in a group is 10. Registration is mandatory. 

 

Walking-Talking educational program for 11-12 year olds: Identify an Artist

On Saturday, July 19, 2014, at 14:00, the PinchukArtCentre invites 11-12 year old art lovers to the Walking–Talking session, entitled “Identify an Artist”.

Participants of the session will explore the space of the art center, focusing on the artworks of Artem Volokitina, Jan Fabre, Andreas Gursky and Mark Quinn and test their wit in finding distinctive and recognizable features typical for art works of different artists. To conclude the session children will take part in an exciting art quest.

The event will start at 14:00 in the reception area on the 2nd floor of the art centre and will be hosted by culture expert Liudmyla Bulanova-Duvalko.

Maximum number of children in the group is 10. Registration is mandatory.

 

“Art Detectives”: an educational game for 9-10 year olds

Starting from July 19 the PinchukArtCentre invites 9-10 year-olds to join in the activity entitled “Art Detectives”. This entertaining educational detective game has been developed by the PinchukArtCentre team with a view to introduce young art centre visitors and their parents to the world of contemporary art, its famous representatives, works and ideas. Participation is free.

The educational art game that is taken home after the sessions in the art centre fosters closer ties between family members, it encourages parents to search for answers together with children, promoting mutual understanding between different generations.

The game will consist of five rounds, which will help participants to better understand what museum is and how it operates, what art is and the diversity of it, and they also will learn about famous art crimes. During the game rounds children will be holding art investigations full of fascinating exhibition tours, informative lectures and home tasks for the whole family.

 

On Saturday, July 19, at 15:00 the PinchukArtCentre will hold the first round of “Art Detectives”. The event participants will learn about the concept of a museum as an institution, its history and organization system. The event will take place on the 5th floor of the art center in the Educational room.

Children Theme Tour “Visit Belgian Congo!”

On Sunday, July 20, at 14:00 the PinchukArtCentre invites 8-11 year-olds to the theme tour entitled “Visit Belgian Congo!” During the event young art lovers will experience a fascinating journey through space and time while viewing the art works of the Belgian artist Jan Fabre presented in the framework of his solo show Tribute to Belgian Congo

The event starts at 19:00 on the 2nd floor of the art centre, reception area. The tour will be guided by the PinchukArtCentre’s guide Lora Ischenko.

Theme tours can be arranged on request for schools and universities.
