The event will begin at 12:00 next to the entrance of the PinchukArtCentre where all participants of the performance will get cardboard parts of the fountain made by Pilar Quinteros. They will help carry the pieces of the fountain to Maidan where the artist will assemble the work back on its original position.

We recommend the participants to wear comfortable footwear and warm clothes as the event will take place outdoor and will last about one hour.
Additionally, the artist and the PinchukArtCentre also invite all Kyiv habitants and guests of the capital to come and see the artistic performance at Maidan next to the Globus shopping mall glass dome while Pilar Quinteros will be reconstructing just for one day the iconic architectural object that used to be one of Kyiv’s symbols for many decades. The performance at Maidan begins at 13:00.
Pilar Quinteros, the artist: “Working on my project for the exhibition of the nominees for the Future Generation Art Prize I was looking for the information about Kyiv in the Internet and got to know about the “Friendship of Peoples Fountain” that was moved from Maidan to a small city Buki in 2001. Moving the fountain for replacing it to a shopping mall is a very significant act in a very significant place where people made protests and manifestations. That is why I was really interested with the story about the fountain and what happened with it. What I am going to do in the framework of the performance is to reconstruct the central piece of the fountain with the help of Kyiv citizens by bringing the pieces to Maidan where it was originally placed.”
This performance comes from a sort of archeological research of previously disappeared significant architectural and sculptural aspects in the cityscape. Pilar Quinteros is reconstructing a memory however this is a failed reconstruction due to the material the artist has chosen - cardboard.
The performance will be held in the framework of the exhibition of the 21 shortlisted artists for the third edition of the Future Generation Art Prize, the first global art prize for artists up to 35, founded by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation. The exhibition focuses on a newly produced works of nominees giving a remarkable view on the most actual artistic positions of a next generation of artists.
