Theme Tour “No simulation - It’s true”
Wednesday, November 26, 2014, 19:00

On Wednesday, November 19, at 19:00 the PinchukArtCentre invites you to a theme tour entitled“No simulation - It’s true”.

«No simulation - It’s true» - these are the words of the digital work «AGnes» created by Cecil B. Evans, nominee for the Future Generation Art Prize 2014. The work itself is not presented at the PinchukArtCentre, but there is a link to it within the exhibition. The tour participants will analyze the reasons and requisites of such cases. In addition, through the example of the artworks by the Future Generation Art Prize 2014 nominees, they will learn about the role of communication in art, about modern media and technology in the modeling of a new type of narrative, as well as in the formatting the relationship between artwork and viewers ("users".)

The event starts at 19:00 on the 2nd floor of the art centre, reception area. The tour will be guided by the PinchukArtCentre’s guide Tamara OstapetsRegistered event attendees will have priority entry to the art centre without queuing.

 

Twister (8-11 years): cARTography. Global art

On Friday, November 28, at 16:00 the PinchukArtCentre invites kids to the “Twister” session entitled “cARTography. Global art”.  While having a journey through exhibition halls with art works by the artists shortlisted for the Future Generation Art Prize, representatives of 17 countries, young art centre visitors will become familiar with the peculiarities of different cultures and sense the scale of our planet.

A series of fascinating educational games "Twister", developed by PinchukArtCentre team, will help young visitors become better at understanding the language of contemporary art, look differently at the shown artworks and find out the most interesting facts about the life and career of their authors. During the lessons kids, by playing, will be filled into the genres and forms of art, will discuss the content of artworks, will try themselves as a modern artists and will create their own museum of contemporary art.

The event will commence at 16:00 on the 5th floor, Education Room. PinchukArtCentre’s guideLora Ischenko will host the session. Participation is free of charge. Advance registration is compulsory. The group size is limited to 15 participants.

 

Walking talking (11-12 years): Why do artists reproduce the symbols of the past?

On Saturday, November 29, 2014, at 14:00, the PinchukArtCentre invites 11-12 year old art lovers to the Walking–Talking class entitled “Why do artists reproduce the symbols of the past?”Every day we are surrounded by things that have become part of history. We wonder if modern viewers are capable of reading the messages from the past hidden in them. Discussing the works of the Future Generation Art Prize nominees Allison Vieira, Jimena Garrido-Lecco and Nikita Kadan the class participants will learn why contemporary artists refer to the topic of the past of the city and its inhabitants.

The event will start in the reception area on the 2nd floor of the art centre and will be hosted by PinchukArtCentre guide Anna HoncharParticipation is free of charge. Registration is mandatory. Maximum number of children in the group is 10.

 

Family Sundays (4-6 years): Fairy tails backwards

On Sunday, November 30, at 12:00 the PinchukArtCentre invites children aged 4 to 6 years to a Family Sunday class entitled “Fairy tails backwards”, where kids will talk about fairytales and favourite characters, and will try to compose their own magical story in the exhibition space with the works of the Prize Future Generation Art Prize patron artists. In the practical part of the session, kids will create a work entitled “Eye of a Dragon.”

The event starts on the 5th floor of the art centre, in the Educational Room and will be hosted by the PinchukArtCentre’s guide Olga Shyshlova and artist Kateryna Vronska. Participation is free of charge. Registration is mandatory. Maximum number of children in the group is 20.

 

Theme Tour for 14-16 year olds “Good/Bad Media. Art of the latest technologies”

On Sunday, November 30, at 19:00 the PinchukArtCentre invites young people aged 14 - 16 to a special theme tour “Good/Bad Media. Art of the latest technologies.”  Through the example of the artworks by the Future Generation Art Prize 2014 nominees, teenagers will study the latest technologies via the prism of art optics and will reflect on their role in everyday life of a human.

The event starts at 19:00 on the 2nd floor of the art centre, reception area. The tour will be guided by the PinchukArtCentre’s guide Lora IschenkoRegistered event attendees will have priority entry to the art centre without queuing.
