On 21 May, at 4 p.m., the PinchukArtCentre will hold a discussion on contextualization of art historical phenomena on the example of an electronic version of the book “Parcommune. Place. Community. Phenomenon" that is the first large-scale published research of the art centre, and dedicated to the famous Kyiv squat “Parcommune”.
The publication is a result of work of the Research Platform team that aims to generate a living archive of Ukrainian Art from the early 1980ties till present. The discussion will take place at the Ukrainian Visual Book hall in the frameworks of Book Arsenal – 2017. The entrance within the general conditions of the 7th International Arsenal Book Festival.
The book includes articles that reveal the squat’s history, analyse exhibition activities of its members and explore the importance of Parcommune as a phenomenon in whole. All the information is presented in the historic context of the late 1980s and early 1990s, and supported with archival materials collected by the Research Platform team from the Ukrainian art scene figures.
On 22 May the electronic version of the book will be available online on the PinchukArtCentre web-site. The English version of the publication is currently preparing.
