Lecture: “Joy and Power: How Emotions Become Political”
On Wednesday, April 29 at 6:30 PM, as part of the public program accompanying the exhibition “Joy,” we invite you to a conversation about how joy moves beyond personal experience and becomes a social and political phenomenon.
Is joy really just an emotion? Or is it shaped by culture, norms, and power?
During the lecture, we will explore joy as a social and political tool: how it is connected to ideas of success and normality, how it can be used as a means of control — and how it becomes a form of resistance in protest and queer practices.
We will also reflect on how joy brings people together and helps build communities.
The event will take place on the 3rd floor of PinchukArtCentre, within the exhibition space. Admission is free, with prior registration required. Language of event – Ukrainian.
