"Summer School" for Children Ages 6–9

A summer of creative discovery is just around the corner!

We invite children ages 6–9 to explore the world of art and bring their boldest ideas to life in a three-day course, “A Story About a Line,” led by artist Lada Verbina.

Dates: June 10–12 Classes will take place Wednesday through Friday in the education room on the 5th floor of PinchukArtCentre. Start time: 12:15 PM. Each session lasts 1.5 hours.

Please note that each course requires attendance at all three sessions. Participation is free. Registration is required.

Over three days, course participants will explore how a line can transform into a story, an image, and an entire space. Each child will contribute to both individual and collaborative works, combining different approaches to drawing, play, and imagination — from a pop-up book that “comes alive” off the page, to drawing flowers from life and by torchlight, as well as collaborative drawing of a single object in a circle, where each participant continues another’s line.

About the course author and instructor: Lada Verbina is an artist who works primarily with painting and graphics, and also engages with object-based practice. Her artistic work focuses on the local mythology of Podillia, belonging to place, and making oneself visible within it. Her works have been shown at PinchukArtCentre (Kyiv, Ukraine), Ukrainian House (Kyiv, Ukraine), thesteinstudio (Kyiv, Ukraine), depot 12_59 (Kyiv, Ukraine), 91 Galerie (Frankfurt, Germany), Milvus Artistic Research Center (Knislinge, Sweden), and elsewhere.
