Lecture by Viktor Dosenko: “The Genetics of the End of the World: How Life Changes in Times of Destruction”

On Wednesday, December 17 at 18:30, we invite you to a lecture by Viktor Dosenko, “The Genetics of the End of the World: How Life Changes in Times of Destruction”, held within the public program of the exhibition “It`s Only the End of the World.”

The event will take place on the 4th floor of the PinchukArtCentre, in the exhibition space.
Participation is free with prior registration. The number of seats is limited.

At the core of the project “It`s Only the End of the World” lies the idea that evolution is a series of mutations – responses to the environment that enable organisms to adapt. A rupture in the familiar order of things, therefore, opens space for new and unexpected forms of life.

During the lecture, Viktor Dosenko will explore this topic from the perspective of modern biology and genetics, explaining whether humanity is truly facing inevitable mutational changes – and what in this discussion is scientific fact and what is myth.

The lecture will address topics such as:

  • what mutations and genetic variations are, and how they differ;
  • how war affects the human body: the genetic apparatus, the brain, and the cardiovascular system;
  • whether mutational changes pose a real threat—or whether natural genetic variation may in fact be our strength.

About the lecturer:
Viktor Dosenko is a Doctor of Medical Sciences, professor, educator, Head of the Department of General and Molecular Pathophysiology at the Bogomoletz Institute of Physiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and Head of the Development and Innovations Department at CSD LAB Medical Laboratory.
