Public Talk: “Why Does Joy Matter — Now and Always?”
What is joy when reality is complex and often painful? And how important is it today?
As part of the public program accompanying the exhibition “Joy,” we invite you to a conversation about one of the most essential emotions — one that gives us strength in difficult times.
The participants will share personal stories about searching for joy and about the moments that help us feel alive even in challenging circumstances. We will not be looking for universal answers or talking about the “right” ways to process experience. Instead, we will try to look more closely at how joy exists alongside exhaustion, anxiety, and loss — and what it means to each of us right now.
During the event, we will talk about: — how joy changes along with us; — how it can become a driving force that unites us, helps us keep fighting, and keeps us from losing our sense of self and our will to live; — and whether we need it today — and why.
This conversation is an opportunity to hear different experiences and perhaps recognize something of your own.
