Future Generation Art Prize prolonged its application procedure till April 30, 2014

Future Generation Art Prize prolonged its application procedure till April 30 to offer the opportunity to all artists throughout the world to take part in the 3rd edition of the first global art prize. Applications available online at the competition’s website: futuregenerationartprize.org

This year more than 60 Partner Platforms worldwide support the Prize extending its global network and range to involve young artists around the world. At the moment applicants from more than 120 countries from all continents applied for the 3rd edition of the Future Generation Art Prize.

Applications are accepted in 10 different languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Ukrainian.

The winner receives a total of $100,000: $60,000 as a cash award, and $40,000 towards the production of new work. An additional $20,000 is allocated to fund artist-in-residency programmes for up to five Special prize-winners.

The International Jury of the Future Generation Art Prize 2014 includes:

  • Francesco Bonami – curator, Director of the 50th Biennale di Venezia (Italy);
  • Jan Fabre – Artist (Belgium);
  • Doris Salcedo – Artist (Colombia);
  • Eckhard Schneider – General Director of the PinchukArtCentre (Ukraine);
  • Bisi Silva – independent curator, Director for the Centre for Contemporary Art, Lagos (Nigeria);
  • Adam Szymczyk – Artistic director of documenta 14 (Poland);
  • Philip Tinari – Director of the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing (China).

All members of the International Jury will come to Kyiv, Ukraine, to select and announce the Main and Special Prize winners at the Award Ceremony in December, 2014.

Each member of the Jury will appoint a member of the Selection Committee who will choose 20 shortlisted artists. The nominees for the 3rd edition of the Future Generation Art Prize will be announced in June 2014. They will receive an exhibition at the PinchukArtCentre in Kiev, Ukraine from October 25, 2014 till January 4, 2015.

Traditionally supporting young artists from Ukraine where the PinchukArtCentre is located, the winner of the national prize for young artists in 2013 Zhanna Kadyrova will also be included into the shortlist of the Future Generation Art Prize 2014, bringing the maximum number of artists in the exhibition to 21.
