The PinchukArtCentre and British Council Ukraine present public talk within the Open Study Programme, featuring BBC director Matthew Springford who created a documentary film The year of Anish Kapoor, revealing Anish Kapoor’s preparation for the exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts in London.

The talk will take place on Saturday, September 22, at 16:00 at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv in Conference Hall #329 (60, Volodymyrska str., Red building). Admission is free.    

During the lecture, Matthew Springford will present his documentary The year of Anish Kapoor and talk about the process and challenges if its creation, demonstrating some of the clips from the film.

Matthew Springford is an award-winning filmmaker based in the UK. He started his career in theatre and dance and transferred his passion for the arts into documentary. He works for the BBC as a producer for Imagine, the BBC’s flagship arts documentary strand on BBC One. His credits include: Love Loss and Anthony Minghella, Art of the Sea, The Year of Anish Kapoor, Art is Child’s Play and Ai Weiwei Without Fear or Favour - winner of Best Documentary for Television at FIFA Montreal. He is currently making a film about the Chinese pianist, Lang Lang for 2012 and a film about the artist Jeff Koons for 2013.

The Year of Anish Kapoor, created for the BBC One art series Imagine, reveals Anish Kapoor’s preparation for the exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts in London. British TV-presenter Alan Yentob followed the artist in his London studio during a period of intense productivity. Kapoor talks about his childhood in India, his early years as an artist and his creative process.

The conclusive public talk within the Open Study Programme featuring Caroline Douglas, Head of Arts Council’s Collection and Bjorn Geldhof, Artistic Manager of the PinchukArtCentre, will take place on September 29, at 16:00 at the Conference Hall #329 of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
