Today, 26 June 2013, the 20 shortlisted nominees for the PinchukArtCentre Prize 2013, a nationwide prize in contemporary art for young Ukrainian artists, have been announced. The short list has been formed by the Selection Committee based on the results of the selection among more than 1 000 applications submitted by young artist from all regions of Ukraine and foreign countries.
Shortlist of the PinchukArtCentre Prize 2013 includes: Anatoly Belov (35, Kyiv), Yevgenia Belorusets (32, Kyiv), Volodymyr Vorotniov (34, Kyiv), Daniil Galkin (27, Dnipropetrovsk), Oleg Gryshchenko (28, Kyiv), Anna Zvyagintseva (26, Kyiv), Dobrinya Ivanov (25, Kyiv), Zhanna Kadyrova (31, Kyiv), Alina Kopitsya (29, Boyarka, Kyiv Oblast), Kulykivska Mariia (25, Kyiv), Oleksandr Kurmaz (26, Kyiv), Roman Minin (32, Kharkiv), Lada Nakonechna (32, Kyiv), Mykola Ridnyi (28, Kharkiv), Ivan Svitlychnyi (24, Kharkiv), Andriy Hir (25, Lviv), Olesia Khomenko (32, Kyiv) and groups: Open Group (Yuri Bieliey (25, Lviv), Stanislav Turyna (24, Kyiv), Pavlo Kovach (25, Lviv), Yevheniy Samborskyi (28, Kyiv), Anton Varga (23, Lviv); Melnychuk-Burlaka Group (Ivan Melnychuk (31, Kyiv), Oleksandr Burlaka (31, Kyiv)) and Synchrodogs (Roman Noven (28, Lutsk), Tetiana Scheglova (23, Ivano-Frankivsk).

The young Ukrainian art scene is continuously developing in a significant way. And this is very essential for our long term commitment for the first national prize for future generations of artists where consistency combined with flexibility".

With 13 new nominated positions and 7 artists who were previously nominated, the prize shows both the constant quality of the young Ukrainian art scene and its growing development with upcoming generations".
Seven of the PinchukArtCentre Prize 2013 nominees had been selected for the short list of the Prize in 2009 and 2011, namely: Daniil Galkin (2011), Dobrinya Ivanov (2011), Zhanna Kadyrova (2009 and 2011), Lada Nakonechna (2009 and 2011), Mykola Ridnyi (2011), Ivan Svitlychnyi (2011) and Olesia Khomenko (2009 and 2011). Additionally, Zanna Kadyrova became the winner of the first Special PinchukArtCentre Prize in 2011. The rest of the nominees are 13 new names whose works never have been on show in the PinchukArtCentre before.
Selection Committee of the PinchukArtCentre Prize 2013 includes:
- Oksana Barshynova, Head of the research Department of the 20th and early 21st Century Art in the National Art Museum of Ukraine (NAMU);
- Kateryna Botanova, Director of CSM (Foundation Center for Contemporary Art), Chief-editor of the on-line art magazine Korydor;
- Björn Geldhof, Deputy Artistic Director of the PinchukArtCentre;
- Arsen Savadov, artist;
- Kateryna Stukalova, Chief Editor of the ART UKRAINE magazine;
Tetiana Tumasian,Director of Kharkiv City Gallery; - Eckhard Schneider, General Director of the PinchukArtCentre.
The works of 20 shortlisted young artists will be presented at the exhibition that will be opened in the PinchukArtCentre from 2 November 2013 till 5 January 2014.The winners of the Main and Special Prizes will be named by the International Jury of PinchukArtCentre Prize in December 2013 in Kyiv. The winner of the "Public Choice Prize" shall be determined by voting of the PinchukArtCentre visitors.
The winners of the Main and two Special Prizes, besides cash awards of UAH 100 000 and UAH 25 000 respectively, will have one month residence in studios of internationally renowned artists. Additionally, the winner of the Main Prize will be automatically included in the short list of the Future Generation Art Prize - international prize for young artists. Winner in the category “Public Choice Prize” will be awarded UAH 10 000.
