PinchukArtCentre and Meridian Czernowitz to hold poetical readings “the 300 Chinese men” on September 4

On Wednesday, September 4, 2013, at 19:00 PinchukArtCentre and International Literary Corporation Meridian Czernowitz invite to a poetry reading titled “the 300 Chinese men” in the framework of the exhibition "China China." The event is meant to continue a dialogue between art and literature, to demonstrate how they interplay, and to offer a fresh look at the exhibits thought unusual “text” optics. Literary events of the art center are held with the assistance of well-known poets and writers. Admission is free.

“China China” is a major group exhibition including eleven Chinese artists of different generations, focusing on the tension between individuality and collective thinking - a subject, which not only defined Chinese history and continuously shapes contemporary society but equally gains importance in the West.

At the event, combining text with performances and messages, leading authors from Ukraine and Europe will read poetry that harmoniously blends in with the topics and problems represented within exhibition “China China”. Readings will be held in Ukrainian, as well as source language with translation.

А. Richter (Austria). Project curator: Kateryna Babkina (Ukraine).

Readings at the PinchukArtCentre is a starting point of the International Poetry Tour "Kyiv-Chernivtsi-Lviv-Berlin-Bremen" - a project of the International Literary Corporation Meridian Czernowitz, which is held in partnership with a number of cultural organizations and with the support of Kulturstiftung des Bundes. The tour will last from 4 to 25 September and will include literary events held in these cities, as well as in the trains Kyiv-Chernivtsi and Chernivtsi-Lviv.
