Art Weekend by PinchukArtCentre: PinchukArtCentre and Public Movement Invite Public to Take Part in “Cross Section” Performance in Kyiv, Ukraine

11 November 2014

On Saturday, November 15, 2014, within the scope of Art Weekend the PinchukArtCentre and Public Movement (Israel), the nominee for the third edition of the Future Generation Art Prize, invite public to take part in the premiere of the “Cross Section”. This outdoor performance will present a series of physical encounters taking place at Triokhsviatytelska Street in Kyiv, Ukraine, starting from “Ukrainian House” and proceeding towards the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Mykhailivska Square that are two significant geopolitical points in the recent history of Ukraine.

Public Movement will perform the actions of resistance, compassion, joy, and conflict. “Cross Section” will include scattered ceremonies, exercises of citizenship, and manifestations of power and vulnerability. The action is offered as a temporal structure of physical memory to be experienced together in public, a ritual that disappears while it happens.

“Cross Section” will be executed by local performers, thus becoming a new cell of Public Movement in Kyiv.

On November 15 the coordinators will meet the audience at 14:30 next to the entrance to Hotel Dnipro, 1/2 Khreshchatyk str., Kyiv, Ukraine. They will keep flags with Public Movement identity. The performance itself will start at 15:00.

The number of performance participants is limited to 300 people. Please register to the event by calling +38 044 590-08-58 or e-mailing to [email protected]

We recommend the participants to wear comfortable footwear and warm clothes as the event will take place outdoor and will last about an hour.

The performance will be held in the framework of the exhibition of the 21 shortlisted artists for the third edition of the Future Generation Art Prize, the first global art prize for artists up to 35, founded by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation. The exhibition focuses on a newly produced works of nominees giving a remarkable view on the most actual artistic positions of a next generation of artists.
