The PinchukArtCentre has developed art classes for the All-Ukrainian Online School as part of the primary school curriculum. The course has been made for pupils of grades 1-4, and will be available on Ukrainian TV channels and on the YouTube channel of the Ministry of Education starting. The school was launched by the Office of the President of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Verkhovna Rada Committee for Education, Science and Innovation, the United Nations Children's Fund UNICEF and the non-governmental union “Osvitoria”.
20 lessons will be released over the next five weeks. Those have been developed the experts of the PinchukArtCentre’s Research Platform and Education Department. Olha Shyshlova, psychologist, head of the PinchukArtCentre’s Education Department, will hold the classes.
Bjorn Geldhof, PinchukArtCentre art director: “It has been an essential part of the PinchukArtCentre’s activity to engage young people with art, as we believe this will give them real life benefits and help them to think creatively and imagine a world beyond that what one can see today. With the closing of the PinchukArtCentre on quarantine, we moved much of those efforts online. The invitation to join All-Ukrainian Online School was a welcome recognition for this work. We are proud to now be able to engage with more children by creating as part of the online education efforts of the state lessons on art.”
Every class will comprise a theoretic part where the children will be introduced to basics in art – colours, composition, genres, images – and a practical one where the pupils will create their own art works.
Vadym Karandii, head of the Ukrainian Institute, administered by the Ministry of Education and Science: “The primary school age is the time when it is useful to focus on developing creativity and artistry in children. We are happy that we could organize the filming on this subject for the primary school. This will be definitely useful for the children.”
Veronika Selega, Director General of the Domestic and Humanitarian Policy Directorate, Office of the President of Ukraine: “The main goal of the project is to help children of the primary school who do not have modern devices, means of communication (Internet connection) or support from the adults to study remotely. With regard to the number of requests about putting in place a studying process for the youngest, this was our duty.”
The lessons will be released every Tuesday under the following schedule:
Grade 1 at 09:30, Pixel TV Channel,
Grade 2 at 09:30, “UA Pershyi”,
Grade 3 at 09:30, “UA Culture”
Grade 4 at 09:30, PlusPlus TV Channel.

Education is one of the PinchukArtCentre’s major activities. It is during quarantine that the art centre has launched new educational formats on its pages on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. Just like before the start of the quarantine, the art centre offers activities for children, families and grownups as well as inclusive sessions.
