PinchukArtCentre to go online with Museum Day

18 May 2020

On May 18th, 2020, the PinchukArtCentre will join the International Museum Day, and it has prepared a special programme to celebrate it. The quarantine restrictions are getting eased; however, museums still remain closed for the visitors, and therefore, the art centre continues introducing contemporary art online.

On the art centre’s Facebook and Instagram pages, one will find a comic strip with guidelines for the best way to spend the Museum Day while staying at home; get art predictions from world-renowned artists; with the help of an Instagram mask, make a selfie against Alina Sokolova’s work, The Choreography of Labour, that had been the most often photographed work within the Exhibition of the 20 Artists Shortlisted for the PinchukArtCentre Prize 2020 before the art centre closed for the quarantine.

An electronic version of the PinchukArtCentre Research Platform’s book, Why there are Great Female Artists in Ukrainian Art, will be published on the art centre’s web page. The publication is one of the first attempts to tell the history of Ukrainian art through the gender optics, starting from the late 19th century to artistic explorations of the early 21st century. That history includes hidden pages from biographies of Ukrainian art’s female personalities, where next to renowned figures, one can see names of those who remained forgotten or little known to the large public.

Additionally, a special project run jointly by the PinchukArtCentre and Marie Claire magazine, Fashion in Art, will be launched on that day, where the experts of the art centre’s Research Platform will make a series of articles on interaction between art and fashion, and artists’ contribution to the development of the fashion industry as well as the place of clothes in art works.

The PinchukArtCentre wishes you all strong health and good mood!
