Lecture: “Care as a Practice of Presence: From Everyday Rituals to the Art of Attention”
On Wednesday, May 13 at 6:30 PM, as part of the public program for the exhibition “Joy,” we invite you to a conversation on how practices of care shape everyday experience, a sense of community, and the way we perceive the world.
From shared meals and gardening to motherhood and interactions in shelters, we will look at care as a cultural practice with its own rhythm, form, and aesthetic.
Together with cultural theorist Yevheniia Butsykina, we will explore how contemporary art engages with attention, vulnerability, embodiment, and shared presence. Through works by contemporary artists, we will consider how care can become an artistic method, an ethical gesture, and a form of resistance.
At the heart of the talk is the relationship between care and joy — not as opposites, but as experiences of full presence, togetherness, and attentiveness to others.
The event will take place on the 3rd floor of PinchukArtCentre, within the exhibition space. Admission is free with prior registration. Language of event: Ukrainian.
