Artist talk: Oleksandra Pogrebnyak in conversation with Gabrielle Goliath

On Friday, August 29, at 5 p.m., we invite you to a conversation with artist Gabrielle Golayat as part of her project Personal Accounts.

The event will take place in the exhibition space on the 2nd floor of the PinchukArtCentre.
Admission is free with prior registration.
The event will be held in English with consecutive translation into Ukrainian.

Co-curator of the exhibition Oleksandra Pogrebnyak will talk with Gabrielle Goliath about the video project “Personal Accounts,” about the experience of collaborating with people from different cultural and political contexts, and about how art can create a space of care where the power of collective support and the possibility of healing are born.

Gabrielle Goliath is an artist and winner of numerous international awards, including the Future Generation Art Prize — Special Prize (2019), the Standard Bank Young Artist Award (2019), and the Institut Français, Afrique en créations prize at the Bamako Biennale (2017). Her works are held in the collections of MoMA, Tate Modern, Kunsthalle Zürich, Iziko South African National Gallery, and other important museums around the world. In her practice, Golayat combines ritual, sound, and social elements, exploring histories and living conditions that society values unequally, and showing how the experiences of people whose voices often go unheard—women, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and various ethnic and cultural communities—can change our perception of the world.
