Mutual Portraits: ‘There is a Hero in Each of Us’. Workshop by Lora Litkovska
On Wednesday, September 17, at 6:30 p.m., we invite you to a special event as part of Lesia Khomenko’s exhibition “Imaginary Distance,” where we will create and exchange portraits of each other using carbon paper. One copy will remain with you, and the other will go to the person you drew. No special drawing skills are required, just openness to interaction and trust in the creative process.
The event will take place on the 4th floor in the exhibition space. Participation is free with prior registration.
In Lesia Khomenko’s works, the main character is often an ordinary person, without the pathos of ideology, but one who carries their own history and creates their own and shared future. Each and every one of us has our own experiences, memories, emotions, moments of strength and vulnerability. During the workshop, we will try to see each other in this way — attentively and genuinely.
“The war has been going on for more than 10 years and has affected each and every one of us. All experiences are intense and contrasting. The intensity of events makes us feel like we are all heroes: of a movie, a literary work, or a historical moment. Perhaps we are the heroes of our own lives — each of us has our own, so precious and important. During the event, we will draw each other’s faces to manifest this importance and value,” says Lora Litkovska.
The workshop will be led by Lora Litkovska, an art educator, artist, and singer.
