Victor Pinchuk comes 32nd in the ranking of 100 most influential people in the art world according to the ArtReview magazine (ArtReview: 2012 Power 100) published in the November issue. Ukrainian businessman, public figure and founder of the PinchukArtCentre has been included in the list for the fifth time: in 2008 he was ranked 67th, in 2009 -53rd, in 2010 - 37th and last year he came 35th.
Published each year in the November issue of the ArtReview magazine and prepared for the 11th consecutive year, the ArtReview Power 100 is a comprehensive listing of the artworld’s most powerful figures, including prominent representatives of the world of art, fashion, entertainment, business. This time the list has been drawn up by international jury and is characterized by fragmentation according to geographical, economic and political changes.
Curator of Documenta 13 Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev tops the list of 100 most influential people in the art world. This year she is a member of the International Jury of the Future Generation Art Prize established by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation. In addition, the list of ArtReview: 2012 Power 100 also features director of Serpentine Gallery Hans Ulrich Obrist (ranked 10th) and deputy director of the New Museum, the director of the 55th Venice Biennale 2013 Massimiliano Gioni (ranked 19th), who are also members of the Jury for the Future Generation Art Prize 2012.
The list also includes gallery owner Larry Gagosian (2nd) and Iwan Wirth, collector Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, artist Ai Weiwei (3rd ), Damien Hirst, Marina Abramovic, Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami and Cindy Sherman; businessmen Bernardo Paz, Francois Pinault and Bernard Arnault, designer Miuccia Prada, director of the center for Contemporary Art "Garage" Daria Zhukova, Russian punk band Pussy Riot and others.
